SUMMARY
The Financial Case Manager reports directly to the Director of the Elder Financial Safety Center. This pivotal role involves overseeing a variety of financial case management services individualized to older adults with low income. This includes Medicare insurance counseling, benefits enrollment, and addressing complex financial issues. As an integral member of the Elder Financial Safety Center team, the Financial Case Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to promote the economic security of individuals aged 55 and above. This role does not involve direct supervision of staff.

PROGRAM GOAL
Help individuals 55+ increase their economic security by providing resources to apply for eligible benefits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivate relationships with diverse clients, evaluate their financial status, facilitate benefits enrollment, offer budgeting guidance and financial coaching, and conduct follow-ups to ensure progress
  • Assist clients with Medicare Open Enrollment to increase enrollment, reduce confusion, and prevent enrollment errors
  • Manages a caseload of clients who receive money management services by assisting them with ongoing budget and financial oversight, finding secure, affordable housing, accessing legal services, and selecting healthcare providers
  • Provides financial literacy and exploitation prevention education
  • Gather, analyze, and compile statistics and data pertinent to financial trends among older adults, grant requirements, and agency needs
  • Ensure eligible clients are connected to employment services or other resources to enhance their financial well-being
  • Represent the Center and agency on community boards and coalitions working to address financial security and poverty alleviation for seniors
  • Make sure all required data, forms, and assessments for the program are conducted accurately and the outcomes are appropriately recorded and shared
  • Coordinate outreach and marketing for financial services with the marketing and communications department
  • Manages and maintains client and professional contacts, resources, and community network information in a database using standardized documentation practices
  • Leads and participates in project initiatives as a member of a cross-functional team inside and outside the scope of expertise and experience

REQUIREMENTS

  • Three to five years of relevant experience or equivalent education
  • Cultural competence and ability to work in diverse teams
  • Strong motivational and training skills
  • Initiative-taking with excellent communication skills
  • Adaptable and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, particularly in Social Work, HR, Benefits, Insurance, Financial Field, or related area
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • Proficiency in technology and data management systems
