POSITION OVERVIEW

The Development Manager – Special Events and Annual Appeals will contribute to the fundraising efforts of The Senior Source by planning, coordinating, and executing events and email appeals designed to raise a combined $1.5M annually.

We are seeking someone who is people oriented, highly organized, budget conscious and with strong attention to detail. This creative individual possesses the energy and enthusiasm to work with others, at times under pressure, and with the initiative and follow-through to achieve a common goal. S/he displays integrity, discretion, and thoughtfulness in handling confidential and sensitive donor information. S/he is accountable, reliable, open to new ideas and can handle unexpected situations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, this individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below. They include, but are not limited to, the following:


Event Management

  • Creates and ensures successful execution of 3 major fundraising events and 3 email fundraising campaigns
  • Creates detailed timelines, ensures they are followed, and holds others accountable to them
  • Creates event budgets with a goal of maximizing revenue and minimizing expenses
  • Works with Marketing Department to develop materials related to events including external communications, printed event materials and digitally shared communication
  • Drafts solicitation and acknowledgement letter templates, updates sponsorship forms, and executes mass mailings
  • Drafts and sends event-related email communications through donor database
  • Manages event programs and runs-of-show with CDO
  • Assists in building relationships, negotiating contracts, and coordinating event logistics with event vendors
  • Administers event related guest experiences, including registration and seating
  • Provides post-event wrap up both through donor communication and the analysis of the event’s fundraising performance and processes
  • Reconciles event budgets with finance department on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Represents the agency professionally with all prospects, donors and the overall community

    Email Campaigns
  • Coordinates and manages three annual appeals for individual giving including North Texas Giving Day
  • Drafts and sends event-related email communications through donor database
  • Conducts prospect research as needed for special events and annual appeals
  • Works with Database Manager regarding the creation, maintenance, and updating of pertinent gift records in the donor database
  • Monitors fundraising for each event and email campaign

    Other
  • Plays an active role in the Development team, including participating in other Development-related events and activities.

  • Creative and engaging problem solving and planning
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with customer service and team skills
  • Excellent computer skills: highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Strong proficiency with a donor management/CRM system; Raiser’s Edge / NXT experience a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and planning capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to display discretion and thoughtfulness, based on varied interactions with numerous constituencies
  • Ability to recognize when to lead and when to defer to the opinions of others
  • Open to and able to adapt to new ideas and unexpected situations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years of special events experience, with nonprofit events preferred
  • Strong proficiency with a donor management/CRM system; Raiser’s Edge / NXT experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Dallas’ funding community is highly desirable
