Now’s the Time to “Beat the Heat” for North Texas Seniors By Making a Cool Donation
It seems like North Texas went straight from the cool days of early spring immediately into the frying pan hot days of summer. There was no transitional time to adjust to blistering temperatures with daily threats of breaking all-time records.
Starting this Sunday, thermometers are slated to bypass the 100-degree mark daily for nearly a dozen days. While most folks will complain about having to up their thermostats to the suggested 78 degrees, there are countless others with no other alternative but to swelter in their homes. This latter group is one of the area’s most vulnerable — the elderly.
Last year The Senior Source stepped up once again with its Beat The Heat program, resulting in 255 seniors receiving AC window units for their homes.
This year The Senior Source President/CEO Stacy Malcolmson and her team are partnering up with TXU Energy to not just beat the heat, but to beat last year’s number of units provided as well.
Their goal is to load up at least 300 air conditioning units at a drive-thru distribution event on Friday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at Concord Church, 6808 Pastor Bailey Drive.
