Foster Grandparent volunteer “Granny Ruth” works with special needs second graders at a local Dallas school.
She is a “pen pal” and writes each student 1-2 times per month. This particular day she showed up in person to encourage them and spread some of her wonderful love.
Volunteers with the Foster Grandparent Program work one-on-one with children and students with special needs in elementary schools, early childhood education centers, and child development centers, to help improve their educational outcomes. This program has tremendous impact on special needs students and the Foster Grandparent Program volunteers alike.
