The Senior Source provides comprehensive services that protect, defend, and empower older adults.

As a Dallas-based nonprofit serving 25,000 older adults a year, The Senior Source has a unique imperative to advocate on behalf of older adults in Texas. Comprehensive services that protect, defend, and empower older adults are why advocacy is integral to its mission. They champion support for bills for stronger elder financial protection because the staff sees firsthand desperate older adults who have been scammed out of their life savings. They fight tirelessly for the safety of residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities and advocate for fair pay for Adult Protective Services (APS) workers who help ensure the financial and physical safety of older adults. Unfortunately, the needs keep growing.

In the United States, 10,000 Baby Boomers will continue to turn 65 years old every day through at least 2030, and in Texas, older adults are the fastest-growing population. The Senior Source is proud that improved laws, protections, and resources resulting from its efforts have a lasting impact on older Texans today and tomorrow. Examples of past successful advocacy efforts include the Silver Alert Program designed to notify the public of missing older adults with a documented cognitive condition and, more recently, expanding criminal history checks for employees at assisted living facilities to include previous residences outside Texas.

Since 1961, The Senior Source has believed that every individual deserves to grow older with dignity. Join The Senior Source in its efforts. Sign up for text or email alerts on key advocacy issues that impact older adults.
