POSITION TITLE: Financial Coach
REPORTS TO: EFSC Director
STATUS: Non-Exempt; Full-time

Summary:
The Financial Coach reports directly to the Director of the Elder Financial Safety Center. This pivotal role involves providing one-on-one financial coaching and education to seniors. Key responsibilities include empowering clients to achieve financial stability and improve their overall well-being through personalized guidance and practical strategies. To be successful in the position, the Financial Coach must have experience working in the following areas: financial goal setting, budgeting, credit building/rebuilding, savings strategies, debt repayment, knowledge of quality financial services, and asset creation or protection. The Financial Coach collaborates with a cross-functional team to ensure that the Elder Financial Safety Center provides a holistic economic security approach to seniors.
Program Goal:
Equip adults 50+ with the tools and knowledge they need to secure their financial future and avoid outliving their savings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive financial assessments to identify clients’ needs and goals.
• Develop personalized financial plans tailored to individual circumstances.
• Provide guidance on budgeting, debt management, credit repair, savings, and investment strategies.
• Assist clients in setting realistic financial goals and tracking progress.
• Develop and deliver financial education workshops, seminars, and group coaching sessions on topics such as budgeting, credit, savings, and homeownership.
• Evaluate participant learning outcomes through assessments and feedback.
• Create engaging and accessible educational materials.
• Collaborate with community partners to provide financial literacy resources.
• Participate in community events and fairs to promote financial wellness.
• Identify and refer clients to other resources and services needed to achieve their financial goals.
• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key community partners.
• Maintain accurate program data and documentation.
• Manage client and professional contacts and resources using standardized documentation practices.
• Participate in cross-functional team projects.
Requirements:
• Four-year degree required in finance, business, or related field preferred.
• Three to five years of any combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the duties and responsibilities listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
• Proven experience in financial coaching/counseling or education, with a focus on working with older adults.
• Cultural competence with an ability to work successfully within an inclusive team and with diverse clients from various backgrounds.
• Ability to motivate clients and train and guide other staff.
• Ability to conduct assignments and projects without detailed instructions.
• Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
• Capacity to work in a first of its kind program that requires a high level of adaptation and willingness to be flexible as the project evolves.
• Strong Proficiency with technology and data management systems necessary (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Suite, Salesforce or CRM database, etc.).
• Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
