DALLAS, TX – [February 24, 2025] – A bitterly cold evening in Dallas on February 11, 2025, couldn’t stop an enthusiastic crowd of The Senior Source supporters from gathering at the beautiful home of Felicia and Gideon Powell for the Spirit of Generations Patron Party, sponsored by Texas Capital Bank. This year marks the 31st anniversary of the Spirit of Generations Award Luncheon, which will honor Dallas banking legend, civic leader and haute couture cowgirl Elaine Agather on Friday, February 27, 2025, at the Hilton Anatole, for her significant contributions to all generations of the greater Dallas community. Since its inception in 1994, the luncheon has raised over $22 million for the agency’s mission of improving the aging journey for all.

A brief program was kicked off by The Senior Source’s Board Chair, Den Bishop, who thanked the Powells for opening their home and was thrilled to celebrate the three-decades-plus success of the luncheon. Stacey Malcolmson, President and CEO of The Senior Source, talked about the mission

of the agency, the most pressing needs of older adults in Dallas, and how the agency is in a unique position to help.

“The Senior Source serves more than 25,000 older adults and caregivers every year. We expect that number to increase given the older population is growing faster in Dallas than any other demographic. They will need the services we provide – everything from researching long-term care facilities to successfully financing their retirement to battling isolation and depression, and more. Thank you for making what we do possible,” said Malcolmson.

At the luncheon, the agency will also recognize Jason Krawczyk as the 2025 Molly H. Bogen Service Award recipient for his contributions to the agency’s annual Beat the Heat event that distributes hundreds of window air conditioning units to low-income seniors who do not have reliable cooling in their homes.

Dee Velvin, luncheon chair, expressed the committee’s gratitude to Elaine for the opportunity to honor her and thanked her committee members for making great strides in reaching the $1 million fundraising goal leading up to the luncheon. Katherine Wyker, Individual Underwriting Chair, was also in attendance along with past honorees Robert Hallam, Kathy and Larry Helm and Louise Griffeth.

Todd Nordeen, representing Texas Capital Bank, who also serves on The Senior Source board and who previously worked at JPMorgan Chase, shared how special it is to be involved with the work of The Senior Source and the impact it has had on thousands of older adults in Dallas. He noted that Elaine, a mentor, friend and champion, has been breaking glass ceilings as long as he’s known her and was “leaning in before Sheryl Sandberg” (former CEO of Facebook, who coined the popular phase) and was an ideal pick for this award.

Other guests in attendance included Pam Busbee, Bob and Ellen Dill, Monica and Brent Christopher, Mary Martha Pickens, Suzy and Larry Gekiere, Margie and Ray Francis, Tucker Enthoven, Pete Kline, Beth and Chuck Thoele, Deedie Rose, Robin Robinson, and Sandy and Tommy Rouse.

A&J Bartending kept wine flowing during the evening and guests were treated to Central Market Catering, including pacific rim meatballs, petite crab cakes, herbed deviled eggs, medjool dates with blue cheese and lemon rosemary chicken skewers and mini tartlets.

The Spirit of Generations Luncheon and Award honors leaders who have contributed significantly in “thoughts, words and deeds” to all generations of the greater Dallas community. This year’s honoree Elaine Agather is a Global Vice Chair for J.P. Morgan Private Bank, serves on the Board of Trustees for the Dallas Citizens Council, and was a driving force behind the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame.
