Advocacy Alert 2.14.22

Advocacy Alert WEB

February 18th is the last day to apply for vote-by-mail for anyone eligible. Your County Election Office must receive your registration by that date. Simply being postmarked by that date is not accepted.

You may have heard about issues affecting some who have applied to vote by mail. They are experiencing a much higher rejection rate than typical. This seems mainly to be due to the new requirement that voters who use absentee ballots must now fill in an ID number on their absentee ballot application form. The number must match the type of number —driver’s license, state ID or last four Social Security digits — that is on file from when that voter first registered. If the voters puts a different type on the vote by mail registration form it will not match. Some clerks are advising voters to put down all three of the identification numbers if they are unsure which one they initially used.
